It took us 4 hours to get home due to an accident on route 78, ack! So the 'before' picture is as cute as it gets. haha!

Life is good - how'd I get so darn lucky???

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season this year!

Lititz Craft Show Update

I just wanted to post that I do plan to be at the Lititz Rotary Club Craft show in Lititz, PA on August 9th. The show is from 8am - 4pm (altho early birds are always welcome, we'll be there by 5am). I will be in the same spot as last year, on Main Street near Sturgis lane.

If you've never been to this show, its fantastic! There are hundreds of vendors all set up in the center of town, through the Lititz Springs Park and up Main Street. There are so many different crafts, something for everyone. Don't forget to stop by Wilbur's chocolate factory too :) (oh and feel free to bring some to my booth, hahaha!!)

If you come, please find me and say HELLO! My friend Megan is coming up from NC and will be selling her signs and fixins, www.americanprim.com and my sister is coming down to help me with the show. I've got lots and lots of BRAND new items, I've worked all winter and spring to build inventory just for this show.

Hope to see you there!

Peaceful Sunday Morning

I love Sunday mornings! I'm sitting quietly, sipping my coffee while the baby sleeps in her bassinet. It's so quiet - no cars going by this early, hubby is still sleeping too. The sun is just coming up such a firey red - it's going to be a superhot day here but we'll stay inside the AC and relax today.

One of our traditions for Sunday mornings is pancakes. My hubby is such a great cook (all meals!) and he likes to make pancakes after he comes home from church. He makes mine with chocolate chips, then he adds pecans for his. I look forward to sharing this tradition with our lil one when she is older and can eat food :)

Today I have some fun things to work on - I picked out a birth announcement on Etsy; so I'm working on a mailing list to figure out how many we need. Then I want to take some pictures of the baby for it; I have a few little things I want to do too.

I'm starting to feel the craft 'itch' - I miss it! I am glad my website is closed so I can enjoy some time off and rest (I sure do need it still). But I may go in my sewing room one day this week and poke around to work on something. I am looking forward to Lititz - which is only 3 weeks away! I'm so glad I have all my inventory ready for the show. Maybe I'll sneak in a few more things in the next few weeks, we'll see.

Enjoy your Sunday today!

Two weeks old!

Ok I won't do this every week but I had the best intentions to get in here and blog again ... and here it is, another week gone by.

My baby girl is 2 weeks old already - her grandma and grandpa are here visiting and helping me out while my hubby is away for work. It's been wonderful to have them here! the company alone helps me out; but they are doing everything they can to help with the baby, the house, my dad vacuumed the other day!

We dressed her up and put her in the boppy pillow for some pictures - this is my favorite, I can't stop kissing those sweet little cheeks of hers. We also took (well both of us!) out for a walk the other day - I couldn't go too far, my incision still is a little sore. AND how fun - I got to drive the car yesterday too. My stepmom and I went to pick up pizza just a mile away but I wanted to do it since I was 'released' now to drive.

Things are going well with everything else here! Slowly every day I feel better. Having my parents here this week has been just wonderful - they may head home today, I know we will both miss them. Mike comes home tomorrow - whoohoo! we miss daddy!
Thanks for reading and until next time... which will be earlier than a week! Have a wonderful day :)

One week old, already!

I can't believe my baby is already a week old. We took her for her first dr's visit yesterday, this is one of her more 'alert' pictures we've gotten, she's quite a sleeper. So here she is all decked out (thanks to her Auntie Jeni) for her big trip.

The Dr. gave her a clean bill of health, she's doing very well! Our pediatrician is great, we can call or ask any questions we want anytime. They're so supportive and Gabrielle didn't even cry too much during the exam (I think it helped that her daddy made google eyes at her the whole time!).
Then on the way home, poor thing was so tuckered out. I love this picture, teehee. The hat covered her eyes and she slept, too tired for the binky or bottle. She took a 4 hour nap too when we got home!

We are all doing well at home - I'm resting and my wonderful hubby has been so great. He wins the best dad, best friend, best husband award of the year! He's the best friend I could ever ask for - we are so blessed.

We welcome

Gabrielle Marie born July 2nd, 2008 at 3:18pm. She was 8lbs, 1 oz and 22 inches long.

The greatest joy I could ever imagine is being a mommy to this sweet Angel! We are so blessed!

How lucky am I??

I am so excited!! My friend Marnie of http://designsbymarnieperry.blogspot.com/ made me the kewlest diaper bag... with 'bling' heehee! She used to make purses and I bought one, fell in love and commissioned her to make me a diaper bag for the baby. I found the perfect fabric and sent it to her. Well it came in the mail the other day and check it out!

Isn't it gorgeous! And she told me when I'm done with it as a diaper bag, I can convert it to a purse :) There's so many features, little things I can use in there, I just love it. AND of course, she sent me a bunch of goodies, only some are showing in the picture. THANK you Marnie, love you!!!

Then as if I'm not already lucky and been treated so well by all my prim friends, I also got another handmade diaper bag that I want to show off too. My friend Sue of http://www.thepunchinfool.com/ sent me a box with a handmade diaper bag that our friend Bette made. Bette does all sorts of neat things with patterns and purses too, http://www.bettestomorrowstreasures.com/store/Default.asp. This sweet diaper bag matches the rug I have in the nursery and I love the pink ruffle on the top. She also made a portable changing pad I can take along too.

And Sue filled this bag up with all sorts of good stuff that we will need for the baby :) LOVE YOU too my pal, thank you! XOXOXO!

So I have to laugh because my hubby also got a diaper bag. Teehee, being who my hubby is and what he does for a living, he got one from his friends at BlackHawk, http://www.blackhawk.com/product1.asp?P=61BC01&C=C1184 He just rolled his eyes while I strutted around the house with both of my handmade frilly bags on my shoulders the other day. Then this one came in the mail shortly after. Hahahaha!
That's OK, I loaded it up with some stuff the other day - nothing like a manly bag filled with wipes, binkies, winnie the pooh toys and diapers, huh!

Well we are busy getting ready for our big day - it's coming so quickly!! I will be back to share a picture and name, etc. after she is born. I feel ready physically - the last few weeks have been a killer with being uncomfortable, swelling, not sleeping well. I'm done with being pregnant. Haha, most women tell me they reach that point along the way. Here's the last picture I'm allowing of me - it's from last Thursday, week #39. Hubby and I had a date night so I had a dress on - it's so comfy, definitely coming with me to the hospital.

There she is, the watermelon in my belly!
Thank you for all of your well-wishes and support - can't wait to share our joy with you all!

This mama bird has a little update

Well I was at the dr's on Friday and had a complete scare with my blood pressure being too high. They were talking pre-eclampsia and other stuff; I was sent across the street to the hospital for monitoring; everything is fine but what a scare!!!

The baby is still breech - my doc's don't think she will turn at this point, so I am scheduled for a cesarean. We have the date picked but I'm going to wait before posting it, I am feeling superstitious :) We did pick a special day though!

Alot of people have asked me how I feel about having a cesarean - I really don't care how she is born, as long as we are both safe. I don't want to try to deliver a breech baby, there are so many scary complications that could arise. So I feel this route is safer, a little longer recovery time for me but that should be okay. That was my main concern for a long time - if I would recover in a reasonable time. But I've been hearing good stories from people on that (besides the horror ones some feel obliged to share).

I've talked to my sister and my friend Megan - they're going to be able to help me alot at Lititz even if I'm still not 100% so if all goes well, I will still be there! I'm glad because I've been working since Jan. on inventory. It's my favorite show! Now... all you Lititz craft show attendees, do me a favor and talk to Mother Nature about the weather. We need another year of beautiful weather!

Oh and I finally got my spot number for the show, it's the same as the last 2 years - Main Street by Sturgis lane. I've got 2 spots - me and Megan www.AmericanPrim.com will be there side by side.

Empty Nest

Well I guess it was time for them to spread their wings and fly! I was so privledged to see one of them actually take its first flight, it was so cool to watch.

The first time I peeked outside I saw just 2 left in the nest and thought, Ut oh, what happened? Well then I looked over on the deck railing and sure enough, one of the 'escapees' was sitting up there, looking so proud checking out the huge world around him. The mom or dad landed on the railing next to him and the baby just opened up his mouth for food :) I guess a mother's job is never done is it? It was so cute!

So I kept checking the progress every half hour or so, I noticed that there was just one little birdy left in the nest. I watched as he stood up, flapped his wings and stood at the very edge of this light. It looked like he was thinking "Ok I can do this, I can do this" haha! Well sure enough he did!

Off he glided, he landed on the deck below and started running all around, checking things out. My cat was going nuts, howling at the door - but we just stayed inside and watched for a long time.

Yesterday my hubby was out mowing the lawn and said he saw all three of them down in the yard, moving around when he'd get within a few hundred feet. I was so glad because I know they can't fly real well yet and there are lots of stray cats out there and fox too! But thankfully they are doing well.

I really enjoyed watching these robins! I don't know that I'd want them so close to the house again next year, maybe outside my craft room windown in the holly tree.

The baby Robins

I have been peeking more and more lately to see what the babies are up to. They are growing so fast!! I got a good picture of one of them waiting for food, heehee :)
Sorry it's a little hard to see, the picture was taken though our glass doors going out to the deck. I peek at them through the curtain just to make sure they are doing OK.

Well, and while I was doing that, my kitty 'discovered' them. I think she hasn't noticed them until now. And where can I find her allllll the time now? Also peeking behind the curtain, meowing at them (and me to let her out, NO way !).

Haha, check her out there, watching and watching. She is there alot lately but I won't let her out there - just in case. The babies are growing so fast, I saw they had nice feathers on them now. They will be flying the nest soon! Mama and papa are still around alot and chirp at me everytime I walk outside - it's the only way out to the deck so I have to get out there to water the tomatoes everyday. But I try to be quick so they can keep nurturing and feeding those babies.

Thought I'd share those pictures today :)

Lessons on motherhood from the robins

Quite a few weeks ago, a mama robin built a nest up on top of our light on the deck. It's right outside the door and next to the grill, so my hubby took it and moved it down to a tree in the yard - hoping they'd get the hint (it was empty). Not so much! That nest was back within a day; again he moved it. This time, there was alotta bird poopy on his car (I told him that was karma paying him back - the birds found 'his' car in the driveway and let loose). Well, he left for a little trip and I didn't pay attention - yep, the nest came back! This time, there were eggs in it so we didn't dare touch it.

Here it is, not a very safe spot - it makes me nervous that it'll fall off.

Well about 2 weeks ago, the eggs hatched!! All 3 little eggs hatched and now we have babies in the nest. And the first time I saw their little heads peeping over the side, I cried my heart out! I feel like we have a bond, the robins and I; I'm only 3 weeks away from my own little chickie coming into this world.

I've been watching the robins to see how they take care of their babies. It's very interesting! I've seen both the mama and the papa robin birds; I've gone outside to hang things up on the clothesline on the deck. One of them always sits on the railing and chirps at me.

I do my best to hurry my work and get back inside so as to not make them nervous. I have also been talking alot to them - don't worry, I just have to do this quick and I'll leave you alone. Haha! I watch the mama and papa bring food in to the nest - worms, bugs, all the good things those birdies need to grow strong. I love watching the babies waiting with their mouths wide open, waiting for food. How they depend on their mama and papa so very much to take care of them and bring them food.

Every morning, mama and I have a little routine - she sits on top of our tent frame and watches me through the kitchen window. Here she is chirping, I think she's telling papa HURRY they are hungry, get some more grub!

We watch each other every morning for a good few minutes while I get my coffee made, feed my kitty, and make breakfast. Speaking of my kitty - she's not real understanding about why I won't let her out on the deck with me. Usually we go out together and she sniffs all the corners; and if I feel good I will brush her too. Well yesterday she ran right between my legs to get outside. Luckily, she didn't even notice mama and papa robin chirping at us from the rooftop and deck railing. I hurried to water the tomatoe plants and got her back in the house.

I've loved watching this process of how the babies are taken care of. Even in the wild, how instincts kick in and babies are nurtured and grow until they are old enough to take care of themselves. As a mommy-to-be very soon, it's reassuring to me that my instincts will be called upon when my little one is finally here.

The Power of Words

Wow! Have you ever been really inpsired by someone else's words? I sure have! Both in a bad way and in a good way. Earlier this week, I was hurt by someone else's words and I gave those words power in a way they didn't deserve. Have you ever been there before? Someone casts harsh judgement on you without a valid reason? Have you ever listened to that little voice in your head that feeds on it, pushes your fears and doubts and insecurities forward to give them power? I have been here before, we all face these demons at times, don't we!

Last night, I was IM'ing with my good friend Cedara and she suggested I read our friend Jodi's blog http://sugarplumstitcheshome.blogspot.com/ about something else. Well sometimes our friends hearts guide us to a place we need to be. Because as soon as I started reading Jodi's blog, I felt so much better. She is a great example of a wonderful mom, who is single and raises her children on her own. She has so much light and love in her posts about her children and the other sweet kids in her life. If you ever had the chance to meet Jodi in person, that is who she is. They aren't just 'words' - they are how she lives her life. She inspired me sooooo very much last night.

Suddenly I 'got it' - the reason why I was giving those harsh words power. I was letting the 'nastiness' create more nastiness in my life; I was letting those words feed on my fears. Well I also got that I didn't need to do it anymore! It's my choice how to live my life every day and I am chosing to live with love and light. Life passes us so quickly - why do I need to spend anymore time on the ugly when there's so much love around me?

Thanks for letting me share this! And to Jodi - thank you for sharing yourself so openly. You made a difference for me. I love you girl! XOXOXO!

And if ever you are confronted with the choice of harsh vs. love - my wish is that you will take the road of love. Your words may affect someone more than you know; choose love!

Back from our Indy Trip

What a wonderful weekend I had!!! I was blessed to spend a long weekend with 13 other amazing, fun and super sweet women out in Indiana. We are all friends through PrimMart.com and planned a Girlfriend's Getaway trip. Here's a picture of the whole gang shopping out in Browne County, we chatted up a store owner and met up with another friend who came in for the day to see all of us. I tell ya, sometimes I wonder how lucky I could be?! These are friends I met on the internet - that sounds so strange to think of meeting friends online; but they are some of my bestest friends I have. We laughed so hard all weekend, we also talked and played Bunco and did so much shopping. Even tho I didn't get enough sleep, I felt so energized because I was with my friends and had some time away.

I also have to say... that I did miss a BUNCH of YOU who couldn't come this year - you know who you are :)

Now these ladies also have the most generous hearts!! Can you believe they suprised me and Amanda with a baby shower? WOW! I was so overwhelmed at their kindness - I had no idea they were planning it either. I received the most beautiful gifts of clothing, lots of essentials we will use and gift certificates too. I am so spoiled, I love you all for thinking of us this weekend!!!

OH and my roomie Val made me a diaper cake! I've never seen one in person and wow, she loaded it with so many things we will use. She also made me a scrapbook album, it is so sweet, I can't wait to fill it up with pictures!

Okay so for those who want a 'belly pic' - well here it is. heehee! I'm now down to 9 weeks left to go til my due date. I can't imagine how big this belly's going to get by then. I am still giggling at many things that happened over the weekend. This sure was a trip to remember!

Vintage Strawberry Shortcake fans?

Heehee, I'm such a kid at heart! My sister & I began re-collecting some of these dolls and things that we had as kids. The new SSC dolls have been out and I don't know but I just don't like them the way I do the old ones. So we started re-collecting again :) It started with my sister finding this HOUSE (that we did not have as kids) at a yard sale for only $5! Then we both started finding things on eBay to fill the house, lol.

So I decided one day (a non-craft I don't feel like working day) to set up the house and make it all pretty. Here's the 'front' of the house where theres a little mailbox and even a porch swing. See Strawberry Shortcake getting the mail? I love her striped tights and little shoes.

I set up the dollies inside the little rooms. They are all doing different things... let's see how many we can identify! This is my newest CONTEST to win a doll making prize package.

I'm going to show close ups of each of the rooms. Email me with the names of each of the dolls you see in each room - like Strawberry Shortcake at the mailbox. Hint: you can look for pictures of each of them on google if you aren't sure of the names.

Attic: (4 dolls and one pet)

Outside balcony: (2 dolls)
Bathroom (eek close the curtain!) - 1 doll (um nekkey) Heehee, strawberry shaped potty!

Bedroom (2 dolls) look closely!
Living Room (3 dolls, 2 pets):
Kitchen: (2 dolls, 1 pet)

Bonus Questions!!!
1. What does this special 'snail ride' become after the dolls get to their destination? (hint: what's inside the big strawberry?)

2. What's the name of this transportation? 3. Who's the tall guy with the bird on his arm? OKAY Offical contest information.... Just email me (admin@homespunfromtheheart.com) your answers no later than April 15th (midnight). All the correct answers will be posted here shortly after the winner is announced. You must get the answers right to be entered; for each bonus question you get right, you get another entry! I will draw ONE lucky winner to win this ultimate doll makers kit:

This is a $200 value prize! You get tea stained muslin, several half yard cuts of different homespuns I carry on my website, some fun and shabby fat quarter fabrics, Vintage Doll Spray (exclusive by Homespun from the Heart), several trims and notions, turning tool set, Mark B Gone pen, vintage blue tinsel, vintage toys for your dolls and your choice of any 3 patterns PLUS the doll making guide for beginners with Candy Cane Ann Pattern on CD. And the winner gets this prize shipped to their home!

GOOD luck to everyone!

Sewing Room Make-Over is DONE

I am finally ready to share my sewing room makeover. I wrote a whole article in Beneath the Willow Tree - I hope you will check this issue out: http://www.btwtnews.com/store/Default.asp
My article shows before (eeeeeeeK!) and after pictures. I really love my new space, I can't say that enough - just reorganizing and rethinking how to use my room made a huge difference. And I only spent $182 in total - with curtains, shelves, some antiques, and organization things. I used alot of things I already had lying around the garage/house.

Well our issue theme was "Green" - recycling and reusing especially. Checkout the neat article on fabrics; and gardening :) And if you are like me and cringe thinking, OH I am not doing enough - read Heartspun Thoughts - I'm Greener than I thought I was. There's lots of great freebees too!

My stepdaughter has been here for SPring break this week; we've had lots to do - been cleaning out her old room for the nursery and getting her new room situated. We spent the day shopping yesterday and today have a lot of errands to do. It's gone by real quickly!

I hope to have a few new faces on my website next week :)

So exciting!!!

This week we found out we are having a baby girl :) We are both thrilled - truthfully, boy or girl, we would have been this excited. I think the best part was going through the details in the ultrasound - we saw her little heart, brain, fingers, and toes. I even saw her little tongue moving around! I cried alot during the ultrasound - my hubby was much more fascinated. We got a clean bill of health for the baby and we are just thrilled with that news. Now to start planning a nursery, EEK!

Oh and I got busy working this week and added a bunch of new faces to my website! I have a few more 'in progress' too. I seem to have a thing for "pink" this spring season. Here's a peek at one of my newest dollies, done using a Sweet Meadows Farm pattern:

In fact, I love pink so much I am doing a swap with my pal Robin of http://www.buttoneyed-annie.com/ we both love pink so this should be a FUN swap!

I am so happy that I'm down to one final project to finish then my sewing room is DONE! I just have to find the exact thing I'm looking for and finish up this neat organizer. I can't wait to show it off.

Hope everyone has a great weekend and maybe a day off tomorrow!

Finally Friday!

Today is the last day for a fun auction I am doing with a group, Primitive Crafters and Designers. I have a couple things up for bidding and there are many more wonderful hand-made creations available too. In case you didn't get to check it out yet, here's a link: http://www.thepunchinfool.com/pcadauctionpg1a.htm Get your bids in quick :)

I just added some more supplies to my website including some doll hair. I hope to add some more in the coming weeks. http://www.homespunfromtheheart.com/store/WsDefault.asp?Cat=SuppliesandKits&Sub=100&isThumbs=No&Thumbs=

I've been busy getting ready for the online yard sale, hosted by PrimMart. Whewy, last year I had a TON of fabric to sell and sold just about all of it. This year, I will have some fabric and other craft supplies too. My stepmom is going through her fabrics too which means there could very well be another ton for sale this year. Heehee!

My hubby finally got home after being away for a week and a half; poor guy took a red-eye out of Vegas (not feeling so sorry for him now, are we? Vegas!) and then was delayed in Chicago. He got home yesterday after a long day and was exhausted. I'm letting him sleep in, even tho I was wide awake and ready for his help on a few projects at 6am. haha!

Well we are very excited to go to the dr's on Tuesday to find out if our baby is a boy or girl. We are both wanting to know - mostly I can't wait to see our little one again moving around on the ultrasound. That was the most emotional thing I've been through this whole pregnancy. I loved it!

Happy weekend everyone!

Sunday Blues

Does anyone else suffer from Sunday blues? I wonder if I get them from all my years of working for someone else and dreading that Monday morning alaram clock/rush? Knowing the weekend was almost over or something! It's kinda funny since I've been working for myself for just about 3 years now. Maybe because it's so quiet around here today!

My sewing room is almost ready, I just need some shelving to go up I hope next weekend. If anyone out there is working on their craft space make-over, please share pictures with me! I will be putting them in the next BTWT and you get free advertising for sharing. I will put a few sneak-peek pics in here too.

I finally got to list a couple new Valentine's things on my website www.homespunfromtheheart.com on Friday. I have one more dolly to sneak in, she'll be listed tomorrow just as soon as I get her to pose for a picture :) I'm also making her into a new pattern.

Isn't my blog topper ADORABLE? Thank you to my good friend, Cedara who made it for me: http://thrutheatticdoor2.blogspot.com/ That's her blog. She's in Canada and makes some kewl dollies.

I'm working on a new mini-website, an EZ Shoppe (www.ezshoppes.com), that I hope to have ready to release later this week. I don't even want to spoil the suprise of what it will be! heehee!

Sewing Room make-Over

Well after writing an article for January's BTWT on organizing your craft room, I got so inspired to work on my own space. If you are looking for ideas for a make-over and organization tips, it's worth checking out! I got so many ideas from the very organized ladies who kindly let us use their pictures and tips.

I have been working slow because of not feeling so great. And my hubby's going to help me after he gets home from his trip for work. I need some shelves put up still :) Good thing he's so handy and has so many great ideas! I have a smaller sized room so I really want to make the most of my space in there.

OH the other thing I couldn't wait to talk about - my friend Sherry, http://www.anniesupboards.com/ & I did our Valentine's Swap. WOW I got soooo many wonderful things from her. This is one big picture but what I want to do is show off the goodies when I get them displayed in the house. I have some special plans for some of these wonderful presents. Look how SWEET that dolly is - it's my first SHERRY dolly, whoo hoo! AND wow I'm adding pink & white and green to my sewing room makeover so everything fits in just perfectly. Thank you Sherry, I love ya my pal! You're a great Valentine! XOXOXO!

Back to work!

It's been a few weeks since I've worked; between the holidays and not feeling great near the end of my first trimester I just haven't had the energy to get much done. Oh, in case you didn't know, the good news I have to share is that we are expecting our first child. My due date is July 4th and both of us are just so excited.

I had some 'afternoon sickness' - lol! Headaches and nauseau seemed to strike me in the afternoon hours for some reason during my first trimester. But just in the last few days, I've been sewing and getting my groove back!

I'm working on some new creations for Valentine's Day. My pal Sherry & I are doing a swap for Valentine's Day, I've been working on some new projects that are just igniting my creativity. I can't share pictures yet because I don't want her to sneak in and see them.

I'm getting ready for a little buying trip later this week, I 'need' more fabrics! If you saw my sewing room, you'd disagree. What can I say? I have a little problem in this area, need more ... need more... need more... WHY you ask? Just look at this mess:
